KNSG Approves Friday 28th Feb. 2025 as 2nd Term Vacation

Kano State Government has approved Friday 28th February, 2025 as the date for 2nd term vacation to all Day and Boarding Public/Private Primary and Post Primary Schools in the state.

Therefore, Parents/ Guardians of Pupils and Students in Boarding schools are to convey their wards home by the early hours of Friday 28th Friday 2025.

A statement by the Director Public Enlightenment of the State Ministry of Education Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru explained that Boarding Schools Pupils and Students are to resume back to their respective Schools on Sunday 6th April 2025 while the Day Students are to resume on Monday 7th April 2025.

The statement however quoted the Commissioner of the Ministry Dr. Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda urging Parents/Guardians of Pupils and Students of the schools to ensure total compliance with resumption dates.

He warned that appropriate Disciplinary Action would be taken against defaulting Students

Commissioner Makoda appreciated the cooperation and support given to the ministry and wished the Students and Pupils successful and hitch free Ramadan Holiday.

Kano Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, Receives 1,500 APC Defectors to NNPP

Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has welcomed 1,500 former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who have defected to the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The defectors, drawn from various wards of Gwarzo local government areas of the state, were officially received at his office on Sunday night, where they pledged their loyalty to the NNPP and its leadership.

In a statement issued on Sunday by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the spokesperson of the Deputy Governor, comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo commended the defectors for their decision, describing it as a bold step towards supporting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration in delivering good governance and developmental projects.

He assured them of equal opportunities and full integration into the party structure.

“We are happy to welcome our brothers and sisters into the NNPP family. This is a testament to the growing acceptance of our party’s vision for Kano State and Nigeria as a whole,” Gwarzo said.

The leaders of the defectors, Malam Abdullahi Tiga from Lakwaya ward and Aliyu Sulaiman from Gwarzo ward, explained that their decision to leave the APC was due to what they described as the party’s failure to meet the aspirations of the people.

They expressed confidence in the NNPP’s leadership and pledged their unwavering support.

Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, Dr Mani Tsoho assured the defectors of equal treatment and opportunities in the local government.

Party officials and supporters at the event reiterated their commitment to strengthening the NNPP ahead of future political contests, urging more people to join the party.

The mass defection is seen as a significant boost for the NNPP in Kano, further consolidating its influence in the state’s political landscape.

KNSG INAUGURATES ADVOCATES AGAINST THUGGERY FOR  REPENTANT YOUTH UNDER SAFE CORRIDOR PROJECT

In a landmark event aimed at curbing political thuggery and rehabilitating at-risk youth, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has inaugurated the Kano State Advocates Against Thuggery for repentant political youth influencers under the Safe Corridor Project – Kano Model.

The inauguration, which took place in Kano, brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from security agencies, civil society organizations, community leaders, and the media.

The Commissioner stated that the initiative is part of the broader Safe Corridor Project, an intervention strategy approved by  Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in August 2024 to rehabilitate and empower repentant political youth influencers who have surrendered to the government.

Waiya added that the Safe Corridor Project is designed to address the pressing issues of political thuggery and related criminal activities among the youth in the state and So far, more than 700 repentant youths have been profiled across Kano State.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eliminating political thuggery and criminal activities among young people. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector to create a safe and inclusive environment with sustainable opportunities for youth development.

In his remarks, the representative of the  Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Comrade Idris Ibrahim Makama pledged his organization’s full support in working with the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs to ensure the success of the initiative.

In a heartfelt response, the repentant youths expressed their commitment to becoming responsible members of society, pledging to abandon criminal activities and embrace meaningful endeavors that contribute to Kano State’s development.

They noted that Safe Corridor Project represents a collective movement towards reducing crime, promoting peace, and fostering personal development among the youth, reinforcing the message that change is possible with the right support and determination.

Farmers In Bichi Advised To Register Under Farmers Associations For More Benefits

Seven Hundred and forty three Bags of Fertilizer have been distributed free to farmers under the Federal Government of Nigeria and Central Bank of Nigeria programme in Bichi local government area.



Sixty Bags was allocated to each political ward for effective distribution to thirty farmers across the area.



Speaking at the Occasion, the chairman of Bichi local government council Alhaji Hamza Sule Mai fata advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the fertilizer for Bumper harvest.


He advised farmers to engaged themselves in to registered farmers associations for their own benefit


Some of the beneficiaries Abdullahi Ɗanbaba Bankaurar Saye and Malam Haruna Usman thanked federal government of Nigeria ,state and local government for the kind gesture.

Kano Education Sector Joint Steering Committee  Reviews 2025-2026 Key Education Priorities

The Kano State Education Sector Joint Steering Committee has conducted a two-day meeting in Kaduna to review the 2025-2026 key education priorities.

The meeting which commenced from Saturday 22nd – 23rd February 2025,  aims to align these priorities with the state’s education strategic objectives to achieve better results.

In his address, the State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda disclosed that the meeting was crucial in reviewing and approving key education priorities, validating work plans, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

He added that the committee discussed critical areas, including the Kano Education Recovery Plan and the implementation of the 14-point Agenda.

” This meeting serves as a place for cross fertilization of ideas, a place where new issues were raised and positive resolutions reached for effective education policies delivery ” he stated.

On government’s commitment to the education sector, Dr. Makoda announced plans to construct 130 new schools across the state through the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project. 

Makoda stated that the construction would include 75 Junior Secondary Schools and 55 Senior Secondary Schools across the state. 
 
The Commissioner also highlighted the state government’s introduction of digital literacy programs to ensure quality education in the state.
 
He lamented that the previous administration had neglected the education sub-sector, leaving behind dilapidated infrastructure, overcrowded classrooms, and an inadequate number of teachers.
 
The Commissioner therefore thanked the development partners for their immense contributions towards the progress of the state education sector, assuring that the present administration would continue to give them all the supports to achieve the intended goals.

The meeting objectives, as outlined by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad, include sharing insights on the Kano Education Strategic Plan and agreeing on action steps to advance education reforms and implementation.

The Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Yusuf Kabir, speaking on behalf of all parastatals under the Ministry of Education, assured their full support and cooperation with the Commissioner of Education.  
 
In their separate remarks,.the chairman house committee on SUBEB Usman Abubakar Tasiu Kiru,  chairman house committee on education Suleiman Mukhtar Madobi and chairman house committee on higher education A.A Minjibir assured the Assembly’s full support towards the development of education sector in the State. 
 
His Highness, the Emir of Kano Malam Muhammad Sanusi Lamido Sanusi represented by Dokajin Kano Alhaji Muhd Aliyu assured of the Emirate continued support to the education sector, calling on wealthy individuals to also assist in that direction.

Presenting goodwill messages on behalf of their organizations, the project coordinators of PLAN international, PLANE, FCDO, AGile, IDEAS, K-SAFE and Save the Children also highlighted some of the intervention programs so far carried out in the state.

The event has brought together stakeholders, including representatives from the Kano State House of Assembly, Kano Emirate Council, development partners, MDAs, and civil societies.

Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board Adopts New Strategy for Hajj Induction Course (BITA)

The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, has announced a new strategy for the Hajj Induction Course (BITA). He made this announcement today during the official closing ceremony of the weekly training program in Gwarzo.

Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa explained that the decision was made in consideration of the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, allowing intending pilgrims to stay at home and avoid unnecessary movement.

To facilitate this, the board has collaborated with radio stations to air special programs featuring Hajj Induction Course teachers. This initiative aims to educate intending pilgrims on Hajj procedures via radio, ensuring they benefit from the training while observing Ramadan.

He urged the pilgrims to use this sacred period to intensify prayers for the success of this year’s Hajj operation and to pray for the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusif, who has been providing the necessary support for the pilgrimage.

Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa also called on the pilgrims to adhere strictly to all rules and regulations set by the Saudi Arabian authorities, especially the NUSUK card, which contains all essential information about the pilgrims.

Speaking on behalf of the Hajj Induction Course teachers at the Gwarzo center, Malam Bala Kayyu expressed gratitude to the board for its continued support and contributions to the pilgrims in the state.

Dignitaries present at the official closing ceremony included the Director of Hajj Operations, the Director of Administration and General Services, the Director of Hajj Mobilization, the Director of Planning, and the Director of Special Duties.

KNSG REAFFIRMS COMMITMENTS TO DELIVER HIGHER QUALITY INFRASTRUCTURES

The Kano State Ministry of Works and Housing, led by the Honorable Commissioner, Engr. Marwan Ahmad, has undertaken a thorough inspection of critical infrastructure projects across the state.

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, QS Halima Ali Baba, and other senior ministry officials, the team assessed the progress, quality, and execution of multiple ongoing construction and renovation initiatives. 

The inspection tour focused on the following key projects: 


– Maintenance of the Shaikh Jaafar Underpass 
– Construction of Dunku to Sheyan to Lingawa Road in Madobi Local Government Area 
– Construction of the Ultra-Modern Market in Kwankwaso (Madobi LGA) 
– Construction and Renovation of the College of Nursing Sciences, Madobi, including the Madobi Bridge to Kafin Me Yaki 
– Rogo 5-Kilometer Road 
– Construction of Rogo to Bari to Falgore to Mahangi Road 

During the inspection, Commissioner Engr. Marwan Ahmad commended the progress made on the projects while reaffirming the state government’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure that addresses the needs of the people. He urged contractors to strictly adhere to project timelines and maintain the highest standards of workmanship. 

Permanent Secretary QS Halima Ali Baba echoed the commissioner’s sentiments, emphasizing the ministry’s dedication to ensuring the timely and efficient completion of all projects. She highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to achieve sustainable development and maximize the impact of these initiatives on the communities they serve. 

The Ministry of Works and Housing remains steadfast in its mission to oversee infrastructure projects that will enhance the quality of life for residents of Kano State. Regular inspections will continue to be conducted to ensure accountability, transparency, and strict adherence to project specifications.

The Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, attended the closing ceremony of this year’s National Annual Seminar on Ramadan Tafsir, organized by the National Headquarters of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS). The event took place at the JIBWIS Secretariat in Abuja on Friday, February 21, 2025.

The Minister served as the Chairman of the occasion during the closing ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by prominent Islamic scholars, including the National Chairman of JIBWIS, Sheikh Dr. Abdullahi Bala Lau, and former Minister Sheikh Isa Ali Pantami, among others.
