Kano State Government has assured banks and other financial Institutions operating in the state of its continued patronage for transparency and accountability .

The assertion was made by the newly appointed Accountant General of the state, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam during a meeting with representatives of the banks and other financial institutions in his office.

Alhaji Abdulsalam also stated that the  present state administration under Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf will not hesitate to dealt with any body conniving and found wanting in syphoning public funds  without fear or favour.

He however insisted that the state government will continue to operates and conduct transactions with the Banks and other financial institutions  in accordance with the rules of law.

He maintain that the office of Accountant General would maintain an open door policy in operating  with relevant agencies.

Earlier, the  Banks officials registered their appreciations on the remarks made by the accountant general and expressed  hope to work in synergy with the present administration in the state.

“Avoid Coming to office late“_ DPM Anwar

The Director Personnel Management of Tofa Local Government, Alhaji Mustapha Sheriff Anwar has emphasized the need for staff to desist from coming to the office late closing before time and absenteeism.


Alhaji Mustapha Sheriff Anwar stated this during a meeting with the local Government management Staff held in his office.


Alhaji Mustapha Sheriff advised Workers to redouble their effort toward the development of the area.


In their remarks, the chairmen of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees Comrade Uba Sule Tofa and Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria Malam Abdu Garba assured their support towards the development of the area, and also advised the management to introduce in house workshop for staff to achieve the set goal.

The Proprietor of AD-COHST Arc Aminu Dabo has emphasized the need for alumni students of the college to embrace unity and cherish friendship among themselves.

Arc Dado gave the advice in his message on the occasion of the 1st get-together meeting of the pioneer Community Health students (Class 2019) of the college held over the weekend at the college multi-purpose hall.

Represented by Alh Abdullahi Usman, Head, PR and Publicity, the Proprietor also stressed the need for former students to come together, share experiences and wisdom with their schoolmates and teachers who played a significant role in shaping their lives and nurtured them to success in life.

Arc Dado commended the organizers of the event for their resilience and urged other graduands from all the departments of the college to borrow a leaf from the pioneer Community Health students.

Earlier in a welcome remarks, the convener of the event, Rchp Aliyu Muhammad Dorayi, expressed appreciation to Arc Aminu Dabo for always having the students at heart and his unending support, love and encouragement to the products of the college.

On his part, the class captain Rchp Jamilu Muhammad Kana thanked the management staff for attending the occasion, stating that the gathering had given the members a sense of belonging and also avail them with the opportunity to air their suggestions contributions.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Mal Adam Uba Muhd, College Examination Officer, Mal Aisar Sunusi lecturer and Pharm Mubarak Hussaini, Head, Pharmacy Technician Department as well as Malama Maryam Isa HOD Community Health.

Ganduje to hands over power on Sunday, to attend President-elect inauguration

The outgoing governor of Kano state, Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje will perform the official handing over of the affairs of the state to the governor-elect, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.

A statement by the outgoing commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Malam Muhammad Garba stated that the event is billed for 9:00pm on Sunday, May 28 at  the Government House, Kano.

He said already, the Kano state Government Transition Committee has communicated the development to the Transition Committee of the governor-elect.

Malam Garba pointed out that the two committees have met within the week during which a handing over document was presented to to the governor-elect committee and also worked out a harmonised agenda on the handing over ceremony .

The commissioner explained that Governor Ganduje would shortly after the event depart for Abuja as head of Kano delegation to the inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, May 29.

He said the governor’s departure was also necessitated to beat the deadline for the closure of Nnamdi Azikwe Internation Airport, Abuja for the inauguration ceremony.

The statement called on people to continue to pray for peace and development in the state.

Child Protection Law: Dr. Zahara’u clears doubt

The out-going Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Zahara’u Muhammad Umar, has ruled out the possibility of any form of contradiction in the Child Protection Bill recently passed into law by the Kano State House of Assembly.

Dr. Zahara’u who had been a major factor in the near 17 years of sustained struggles that finally led to the passage of the bill into law, said it had undergone stages of screening and series of deliberations by great Islamic scholars in order to ensure it’s conformity with Islamic doctrines.

Revealing this while officially handing over the affairs of the ministry to the Permanent Secretary, the out-going Commissioner assured that the law is a welcome development that is not in conflict with Islam.

She also expressed gratitude to God that the bill which is all about children whose affairs fall under her ministry, was passed into law during her time in office.

Quoting from the Holy Qur’an and Hadith of the Prophet, she explained that “Islam and the Holy Prophet are even more protective of children than one can think of.

She therefore called on the in-coming government to see to proper and effective implementation of the law for full results.

Commenting on her working relationship with staff of the ministry, Dr. Zahara’u said it was cordial, and based on mutual respect, adding that, “we were like a family, associating with one another even on personal bases”.

She then begged for forgiveness in case she offended someone in the course of interaction.

In her speech, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Sa’adatu Sa’idu Bala, commended the contributions of the out-going Commissioner, which she said have impacted positively on the ministry.

She particularly referred to personal efforts that saw the Commissioner going extra miles to improve the lots of inmates of homes directly under the ministry.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the introduction of bulk purchase and other similar initiatives by the Commissioner have greatly improved condition of units under the ministry and better the lots of inmates.

The Permanent Secretary then prayed for Dr. Zahara’u and wished her well in her future endeavors.

Also delivering a vote of thanks after the handing over, Director, Administration and Special Services, Hajiya Mariya Hudu, appreciated the Commissioner’s reliability, tirelessness and relentlessness in handling the Affairs of the ministry. She also wished her more success after office.
