The commissioner made the remarks during the closing ceremony of a facility management training session attended by thirteen heads of department for water, environment, sanitation, and hygiene, and held at the Ministry’s premises.
He explained that this initiative is part of their ongoing commitment to ending open defecation across the state
Alhaji Abbas Sani Abbas highlighted the dedication of the Managing Director of RUWASA, Alhaji Shamwilu Abdulkadir Isah, in facilitating this initiative.
The commissioner further emphasized that the provision of these tools is meant to encourage hard work and dedication among the facilitators, urging them to use these resources sustainably and continue mobilizing their communities to eliminate open defecation.
In his address, the Managing Director of RUWASA, Alhaji Shamwilu Abdulkadir Isah noted that the distribution of laptops and smartphones is in line with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision of integrating modern technology into public services in Kano State.
He encouraged the participants to utilize these tools for data management and effective communication with RUWASA, ensuring continues support for their efforts to end open defecation in the state.
On behalf of the participants, the Head of the Department of Water, Environment, Sanitation, and Hygiene of Gaya of local government area expressed gratitude to the Managing Director for this significant gesture and pledged their continued support in achieving the desired goals.
Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf, Kano State has witnessed remarkable strides in infrastructural development, notably through the provision of solar street lights across several metropolitan’s Local Government Areas (LGAs).
This initiative is not just a testament to the government’s commitment to modernization and sustainability but also a crucial step toward enhancing security, economic activity, and the overall quality of life for Kano’s residents.
The installation of solar street lights has brought a transformative change to the night scape of Kano. These eco-friendly lights have ensured that streets are well-lit, significantly reducing the risks associated with darkness, such as crime and accidents e.g. phone snatching. With the implementation of solar technology, the state capitalizes on its abundant sunlight, ensuring a reliable and cost-effective energy solution.
This move not only reduces the dependency on the national grid but also promotes environmental sustainability by cutting down on carbon emissions.
Moreover, this initiative reflects a strategic approach to urban development. Well-lit streets boost commercial activities, as businesses can operate for longer hours, contributing to the local economy’s growth. The presence of these lights instills a sense of safety among the residents, encouraging more vibrant and active communities after dusk.
While the progress in street lighting is commendable, it is imperative to address the pressing issue of the drainage system in Kano State.
His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf’s request for the construction and evacuation of drainage systems is a forward-thinking measure that acknowledges the fundamental role of effective drainage in urban planning. Kano, like many other rapidly growing cities, faces challenges related to flooding and water management, which can have severe implications for public health, infrastructure, and the environment.
An efficient drainage system is vital for preventing waterlogging and flooding, which are frequent during the rainy season. Such measures protect properties, reduce the risk of waterborne diseases, and ensure that roads and other infrastructure remain intact and functional. Additionally, proper drainage systems are essential for maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the city, as stagnant water and clogged drains often lead to unsanitary conditions and unpleasant sights.
The proactive stance of His Excellency in advocating for these essential infrastructural improvements showcases his dedication to fostering a resilient and thriving Kano State. The government’s focus on solar street lights and drainage systems highlights a balanced approach to development that prioritizes both immediate needs and long-term sustainability.
In conclusion, the efforts of the Kano State government under His Excellency Eng. Abba Kabir Yusuf are highly commendable. The provision of solar street lights across metropolitan LGAs and the call for an improved drainage system demonstrate a commitment to creating a safer, more sustainable, and economically vibrant environment for all residents. Such initiatives set a benchmark for other states to follow, proving that with visionary leadership and strategic planning, significant advancements in urban infrastructure are achievable.
The people of Kano can look forward to a brighter, safer, and more prosperous future under this dedicated administration.

(Nigerians Are Tormented Due To Stagflation And Security Challenges)
Continuation 5—–
By Abbati Bako
Since we know that politics has competing values, interest and ambition, let us critically examine these three key points that make politics what it is in every part of the world. Politics means governance.
His Excellency Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his Deputy Senator Kassim Shettima will face a very huge task between 2023 to 2027 especially the issue of economy, security and sustainability of the Democratic system in Nigeria as well as in other African Nations (Kenyan riot is an excellent example).
The APC party has not been doing well despite the fact that the world is facing huge security challenges and economic crunch that affect both advanced and less advanced Nations of the world. Therefore, sustainability and continuation of the Democratic system is not an easy task. Not only in Nigeria but in the whole of the Global South.
Let’s make a political comparative analysis on an advanced Democracy and a less advanced Democracy: that is USA and Nigeria operating the same system and line of “Liberal Democracy” or the Presidential system of Government; And the efforts of their leaders to ensure smooth transition of Democratic system in their nations. American Democracy is about 275 years or soin practice and without military intervention and can now be described as matured and advanced Democracy. On the other hand, Nigeria’s Democracy has been under transition for the past 25 years. Despite the shortcomings, Nigeria is not doing better than some of the African nations (Ghana, South Africa, Namibia, Rwanda, Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, Tanzania are excellent examples) in terms of Democratic practice. This is for the fact that the recent elections in South Africa was an indication of perfection of Democracy of which was an excellent performance as a result of coalitions of government in the country without rancor, violence or courts cases.
But analysts opined that with time Nigeria may supersede these nations in terms of Democratic practice. It is expected that by 2030 Nigeria will lead African nations and other South South nations in terms of matured Democracy. Especially if a Nigerian annual income will reach as high as $3,000 or even $5000 per year or $10 per day for the common man.
So, considering the huge experience of Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu as a former Governor in Lagos State and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria we have hope he will use his experience to move Nigeria’s political, economic and social security to the promised land. But looking into how things are happening today in the country; security challenges, inflation, food insecurity, unemployment rate, epileptic electricity energy and dilapidated infrastructure and more; no sane somebody will give hope for APC Party and President Tinubu as a candidate for 2027 if care isn’t taken.
*Economic growth—–
Economy of individuals in Democratic practice is a live wire of continuity of the system. Sincerely speaking, economic aridity of citizens alters the positive impact of Democracy in the mind of the common man. But this writing understands that Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not charge positively for the economic road map of Nigeria and other African Nations. Nigeria has a leading economic interplay in Africa with about $511B of GDP (followed by South Africa, Egypt, Algeria, Angola, Rwanda and Ethiopia) there is no tremendous hope Nigeria will change economically under Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s leadership. This seems to be the fact of the matter. But unless a miracle will happen before the end of the year 2026.
This writing said it several times that 70 years ago if someone had predicted that the son of a Kenyan muslim man (Barack Hussain Obama) would be president of the world’s most powerful nation, that person would have been tagged or described as insane/delusional. So, one may ask; why and how did Obama become President and a global leader? Also, some years ago if someone said that the current Mayor of London Sadiq Khan will be the Mayor of London; for sure that would be delusional and unbelievable.
But all that happened due to their ability of leadership and patriotic nature of their will and positive performance to their citizens. Leadership is an issue of ability, dedication, agility, patriotism, accountability, fairness and just and team ship of experts and experienced advisors that will give positive directions to leadership. That has been how nations and societies developed in the world.
So, in Democracy all the said examples are possible not only in advanced nations but even in emerging Nations of the world. Rwanda is an excellent example in Africa.
*The answers and possibility:-
The answers are simple; the USA/UK’s values, interests and ambitions must be pursued, ensured and protected. Simple! That is politics! In the past 78 years as global leader USA has been leading the world politically, economically and socially and might continue to do so for long or indefinitely and unlike in the past Centuries; British, Portugal, France, Spain and so on were all fifty-fifty years global leadership.
Although George Friedman the author of the book titled “The Next 100 Years, 2009, New York ” observed that “In international relations, the way the world looks right now is not at all how it will look in twenty years… or even less. The fall of the Soviet Union was hard to imagine, and that is exactly the point”. The world is changing and will continue to change for an unknown length of time.
Conventional political analysis suffers from a profound failure of imagination”. One may ask why this writing is making the claim. This is also very simple: what mostly matters to USA leaders is protecting the values of Americans at all cost and anywhere around the world. As such only patriotic political leaders will think that way. On the economic side, Americans constitute about 4% of the world population but produce about 26% of all goods and services. Hence, America is still the leading economy and Political voice in today’s world. Therefore, Nigeria’s political leaders must have a patriotic approach to protect the rights of Nigerians in any part of the world and at all cost. Food must be available, security and less inflation must always be around.
This in the USA’s leadership is as a result of motivational approaches towards the USA’s citizens to be patriotic, united, hard-working and love one another as well as to be law abiding. These are the only ways that a nation would be strong and economically viable and developed.
Evacuation of US citizens and other European countries by America from Afghanistan is an excellent example of patriotism by their leaders to reduce the cost of war financing on tax payers money. In Nigeria Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his team must do everything possible to protect the life of each and every Nigerian both at home or abroad. He must try as much as possible to ensure food security, the immediate drop off of inflation, security challenges and generally “stagflation” In the country.
*Nigeria as a leading economy and Democracy in African Continent by 2030———
NIGERIA’s current political leaders must try to do their best to locate the exact direction of globalization system adopted by global nations; Democratization, Global Economic Integration and Multiculturalism; meaning Nigerians should try to go as many countries in the world and invest (South Africa have about 120 companies invested in Nigeria). But more efforts must be added and ensured between 2024 to 2031 Nigerians are getting jobs, investments, educational opportunities as did by Europeans, Indians, Chinese, Lebanese, Koreans, Japanese and all cultures in Nigeria. That has been one of the advantages of globalization policy. Meaning, all humans are global citizens.
Factually speaking, the initial stage of globalism’s system is painful and unbearable to many people but with time there may be light at the end of the tunnel. The 30 economic emerging nations such as Brazil, India, China, UAE, Qatar, Kenya, South Africa, South Korea, Macedonia, Argentina, Mexico, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Turkey, Vietnam and the rest and even Saudi Arabia making efforts to implement some of the principles of the system such as privatization, tax reforms, protection of intellectuals right, currency deregulation, removal of subsidy and encourage citizens to be hardworking and knowledgeable in all spheres of life based on their understanding of the system. That has been some of the prescriptions for emerging economies by the UN agencies like “IMF/WB”.
This writing understands that only few Nigerians can fathom the way the leaders of our nation are trying to ensure that Nigeria remains in the bandwagon of globalism. NIGERIA’s leadership cannot afford to isolate the nation from the current global direction of Economic Integration, sustainability of Political Democratization and Multiculturalism.
Hence, can Nigeria afford to join nations such as North Korea, Venezuela or Cuba? No! The world is not in that direction. But as above the system must sound in our terms and conditions.
There is no doubt that there is economic hardship but this writing understands that with time the pain will heal no matter how long if President Tinubu makes it in Nigeria’s terms and conditions. Hence, the most important point in “Globalization Policy” is for the people and the nation to be a hardworking, competitive, honest, accountable and patriotic approach to every policy formulated.
And again, the leadership must be knowledgeable, visionary based on positive missions to solve the problems of the nation. As Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu said some time ago that “Nigeria wants thinkers and doers”. The Asiwaju and Jagaban have said the truth and this writing understands that Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his team will lead Nigeria through that positive thinking if the current imbroglio needs to be solved in Nigeria.
*President Buhari’s PIB approval and Globalism and the abrupt removal of oil subsidy by President Bola Tinubu—–
No nation can go alone in the current globalism type of global economic integration and Democratization as well as Multiculturalism. Countries such as China, Brazil, Malaysia, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and India are doing the best they can to move together with the world; on their own terms and conditions socially, Democratically and Economically. Many countries of the world privatize their properties for the world to come in and invest. Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) is the key principle to globalism. But corruption must be tackled from all angles otherwise, Nigeria will remain in economic precarity, aridity, crunch and meltdown.
*Investment—–
Singapore benefits about 90% from investors compared to Africa’s 56 nations with 10% cumulatively (Prof. Tatah Mentan, 2007). So, the efforts of the current President Bola Tinubu by traveling to many countries of the world is to woo investors to come to Nigeria; based on the fact that Nigeria is the number one market in Africa and amongst the ten most populous nations in the world. Nigeria is two and half percent of the global population. Hence, Nigeria is a huge market and resourceful country in the world; especially in the Global South.
The PIB will change the patterns of Nigeria’s economic interplay with other nations. Nigeria already privatized N.N.P.C and its subsidiaries to attract investors to come to Nigeria which will change the patterns of Nigeria’s economic growth for the better. The benefits will be seen not now but in the near future. This means that Nigeria’s new economic molding system will create more employment and stabilize the nation’s economy as it happened in Brazil and other economic emerging Nations. But this writing says it again and again; it has to be based on Nigeria’s terms and conditions especially when it comes to the issue of debts by the global financial institutions. Otherwise, Nigerian economy will be in doom for a long time.
Nigeria seems to be smarter than Saudi Arabia (Saudi Arabia has already privatized its oil company Aramco) despite the fact that Saudi Arabia produces about 12 m barrels of oil daily compared to about 1.4m barrels by Nigeria, Saudi Arabia with about 40m population and Nigeria with about 229m population. Both countries are almost completely dependent on oil, the cost of one barrel takes care of two Saudi citizens while 80 Nigerians are to one barrel in terms of security, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and so on. Sincerely, we are too heavy on our economy as our population increases to about 5M newborn babies every year or about 24,000 new born babies in every 24 hours. And Nigeria’s population will be around 400M by the year 2050 and possibly around 800m before the end of the 21s Century according to the United Nations projections.
To be continued Insha’aAllah—–
