Aliko Dangote is a patriot and on economic rescue mission in Nigeria——-

By Abbati Bako, psc, bsis and alumnus of Kent,UK’s European University——-

The Managing Director of African Development Bank Dr. Adesina has said that “criticism against Aliko Dangote is uncalled for” meaning that Dangote’s investments in Nigeria is on a rescue mission for the advantage of the common man and Nigerian government for economic growth, employment and development. Although he is looking for profits like in any other business in the world, at least it is better to invest in your country than in any other country in the world. Investment of about $20B is not a joke even in both global North and South.

Even in the United States of America or any country in the world an investor like Aliko Dangote has decided to invest; he will be welcomed by the president of that country. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is the key to economic development.

Hence, the current arguments on his refinery are uncalled for, for the fact that the whole issue was instigated by the oil cabals in the country. And in an interview with Aliko Dangote had said that “oil cabals are more dangerous than drug cabals at both local and international level”.

So, the chairman of Dangote Refinery has said the truth. The oil cabals will never allow the possibility of oil availability in the country for the benefit of the people and the government. That’s the reason behind why the country’s refineries owned by the government have not been functional for quite many years. And most probably they will not relent their efforts until they make sure that democratic system has been truncated in Nigeria beyond for their own selfish interest.

*The importance of competition in capitalist market system——-

This writing said it several times that in capitalist market economy competition is as essential as oxygen, food and water for human existence. In capitalism competition creates a lot of advantages for the country such as employment opportunities for the younger generations that graduated from universities and other higher institutions of learning in the country.

In a capitalist market economy, competition has several advantages, including:

1.  Innovation:

Competition drives innovation, as firms strive to develop new products, services, and processes to gain a competitive edge.

2. Efficient allocation of resources:

Competition ensures resources are allocated to their most valuable uses, as firms compete to provide goods and services that meet consumer demands.

3. Lower prices:

Competition leads to lower prices, as firms try to undercut their rivals to attract customers.

4. Improved quality:

Competition pushes firms to improve product quality, as consumers can choose from a range of options.

5. Increased choice:

Competition offers consumers a wider range of products and services, catering to diverse preferences.

6. Economic growth:

Competition stimulates economic growth, as firms invest in research, development, and expansion to stay competitive.

7. Encourages entrepreneurship:

Competition encourages entrepreneurship, as individuals and firms are incentivized to innovate and take risks.

8. Discourages monopolies:

Competition prevents monopolies, ensuring no single firm dominates the market and stifles innovation.

9. Promotes adaptability:

Competition forces firms to adapt to changing market conditions, consumer preferences, and technological advancements.

10. Enhances productivity:

Competition drives productivity, as firms strive to optimize operations and reduce costs to remain competitive. By fostering competition, capitalist market economies can create a dynamic environment that benefits consumers, drives innovation, and promotes economic growth

11. For example, since the emergence of cell phones in Nigeria in the year 2000 or so there has been no competition; most of the people that possess cell phones will not have the opportunity to get it simply because of the business monopoly of one company or the other. Competition is absolutely imperative in a capitalist system in the world.

SENATOR BARAU JIBRIN: AN ALIEN FROM ANOTHER PLANET ?..

By Shariff Aminu Ahlan

                  PART TWO.

Then out of the blues, the  humble, generous and philanthropist per excellency recently did an unimaginable and first of it’s kind constituency project that set tongue wagging and become an instant topic of discussion by dolling out one hundred and seven buses to kick start what he tagged Kano North Transport Service aim at smoothing and easing transportation problems of the entire senatorial district and beyond.

Admiringly, the large number of the buses as earlier mention were given out as a gift to each beneficiaries. His major target as usual is to empower the beneficiaries and instantly made them self reliant and change their lives for the better. Imagine the cost and millions engulfed in a such emulated gesture that sent the entire zone agog with unprecedented celebration and pouring of accolades and prayer towards such an illustrious son of the soil and undoubtedly the most performing in the history of the zone and the nation at large.

Trust the tireless and goodhearted Senator who never cease to amaze onlookers and public analyst. As it’s a raining season and farmers major headache and pressing needs revolves around the availability and procurement of fertilizer, the Senator is about to distribute hundreds of trucks of fertilizer to the teeming population of his Senatorial District and other parts of the state with beneficiaries to  comprise of party loyalist and other populace.

The free distribution would be flagged up any moment from now. A noble and commendable gesture which would no doubt helps the teeming populace tremendously and ensure massive production of foodstuffs during the harvest period. What’s a progressive and extraordinary Senator,

Is indeed amazing and undoubtedly a thing of pride watching an single individual doing all these glorious and commendable projects all in a bid to better the lives of the people of his Senatorial zone and in extension the entire people of the state as most of those constituencies projects are extended to the parts of the state for the overall benefits of all.

Senator is indeed a legend, a thing of pride not just to the people of his Senatorial zone, Kano State but also to the nation at large. He has become a symbol of emulation to the teeming politicians who are fortunate enough to be holding public office. If all those in the position of power and authority shall have the same zeal, determination and clear mindset by becoming responsible and hold the voting populace who entrusted their same power and privilege at heart just like this active, generous and humble politician, the Nigerian populace would surely have a different story to tell.

Nigerians would surely be proud of their responsible leadership and would beat their chest with pride and be defendable of those holding public office and in the end commended, cherished and acknowledged the democratic process with pride and satisfaction. BARAU MALIYA: WHO IS AFRAID OF THIS RAMPAGING LION

By Shariff Aminu Ahlan

…His justified raising profile is scaring the living daylight out of others. Victims from both side of the coin.

It’s indeed normal and naturally unexpected to see how the all powerful Deputy Senate President is making the Kano State political actors from his own party and opposition jittery, unsettled, shivering, confused and terrified with him going by the nature of his powerful and influencial position, but more ironic to his adversaries is his massive delivery of dividends of democracy which has been rated and justifiably so as the most effective, huge and colossal that cant be compared with any politicians doing in the entire state since advent of this current political dispensation.

But a keen observer my naturally feel curious and demand to know why such a noble gesture and influencial position be a threat to other political gladiators? The logical answer could surely be political ambition, for there are huge abundance of political power seekers from all front who are nursing ambition of seeking a particular position of the exalted seat of State No 1 Citizen, and for no fault his, the said victim of their massive attacks is known to be nursing a long nurtured desire to goverrn the state at an appropriate time. As such any observe can smell the genesis of their discomfort.

But the all powerful politician is no doubt a smooth political operator who has carve a ninth for himself as one of the most successful and finest politicians in the country with amazing and mind-blowing political success going by the number of elective positions he held over the years and reputed to have won every contest with massive majority. And astonishingly, he always found himself in the midst of privilege principal officers both in the Federal House of Representatives and Senate. Not just been a principal officer but one who held Chairmanship of several (so-called) juicy committees. And everything culminated into his present ultimate position as the fifth most powerful citizen of the entire nation. What’s an achiever!

There is no gainsaying the fact that despite the political shenanigans, intrigues, manipulation, intense manoeuvre, cajoling, threat, intense political war, financial inducement, treachery, high-level plots and counter plot that trailed and herald the recent election of the leaders of the legislative chamber, Maliya adoption and recommendation by the ruling party to serve as a Deputy Senate President was greeted and accepted with deepening applause, commendation and acceptance by the entire members of the party including oppositions members and the nation in general.

In a need to know the genesis and the sparking light that engrossed the political actors in the state, let me take you for a ride to discover more about this unique, humble, generous, philanthropist, eloquent, fearless , financially loaded, intellectually endowed and undisputed master of the game of politics.

Is indeed no secret that entire globe was abreast with heated arguments, diverse opinions and uncompromising stances and opposition against the choice of the Senate President which was vehemently challenged by the powerful clique who were hell-bent in ensuring that their prepared candidate, Senator Abdulaziz Yari emerged as the president irrespective of the stand and open adoption of Akpabio by the ruling party with the consent of our active and serious-minded President Bola Tinubu. They remained adamant and turned a deep ear to the points raised by the leaders which favour Akpabio due do it’s political relevance aimed at ensuring justice, equity and the need of balancing to ensure fairness and replicate the sense of belonging.

As it was then tense up, supporters and opposition group stuck to their gun, an election was conducted and votes were casted during the historic election which brought the President and his deputy on board. But one thing worthy of note and insightful acknowledgement was the fact that Senator Barau Maliya goes through the rigorous and super-tense election unopposed and naturally won unopposed.

Attaining such position unopposed without any challenger from all parties is indeed a no mean task. It signified general acceptance by all members and a clear testimony to his capability and capacity to deliver. Such a marvellous scenario led many to the cocoon of curiosity wondering what was so special and unique about such a Senator that made him stand out from the crowd? How was he able to gain such respect, support and exceptional rapport with distinguished members both old inhabitants and the newly initiated?

But there is nothing to be surprised of as Senator Maliya was not a novice or new to the legislative inner happenings and activists, for he is fortunated enough to have been a member of House of Representatives and subsequently Senate chamber. In all the chambers the distinguished Senator graced, he made name for himself as an astute politician with an awesome diplomatic approach to all issues. An active participant in debate and presentations of bills upon bills, he is also blessed with an incredible friendly gesture which made him establish a strong bond and genuine friendship which ultimately attracted him to all members irrespective of party affiliation. No wonder,  when he was a member of the Federal House of Representatives, he was then chosen to served as Chairman Finance Committee and later Appropriation at the House of Representatives. And same with the Senate where he was a Chairman of an influential and powerful Appropriation Committee during 9th Assembly era and culminated to his present position as Deputy Senate President in the current dispensation.

The Dsp has distinguished himself among his peers through his noble actions and inactions. He is justifiably credited and acknowledged as the most productive and result-oriented Senator that executed an uncountable number of projects to the people of his senatorial zone. His gesture has also transcend his zone alone but cut across all nook and crannies of the state. One the few politicians that remarkably dedicated their whole in creating a legacies through the genuine execution of an uncountable number of constitutional projects. One of the very rare and few elective posts holders who can be counted and commended for fulfilling their obligations and responsibilities that were reposed upon them by the people of their constituency.

We can vividly remember that he tirelessly work hard and placed everything in motion to seek the ticket of Governorship election during the last election. Every party members and electorate knows that he is indeed a competent and formidable candidate who has a massive fellowship in the entire state. But the political shenanigans intrigues, and other variables best known to the party keep unfolding prior to the primary election. No need to dwell more on this as its aftermath was an open secret. But admiringly, the former Governor made a political master struck based on personal sacrifice and decided to ditch his Senatorial ticket and allowed Maliya to contest, for they all are from the same zone. A sensitive move was made to placate the said Senator Maliya. It’s also a clear demonstration and indication of his political value and relevance which no party would dare take the risk of losing him to vultures that keep circulating and waiting to punch if an inevitable happens.

Sensibly and intellectually, man acknowledges the magnanimity of Ganduje’s gesture and as such remains a strong pillar and diehard Ganduje loyalties. And note that despite the political disaster that befall the party due to the emergence of New Nigerian People Party( NNPP) led by the former Kwankwaso, which did a devastating blow which, out of the three Senatorial seat, only Barau’s was able to left unscathed and won his seat after a marvellous triumphed with massive votes despite the opposition maddening effort to grab his seat.

Here is a hidden bone of contention didn’t visualize. Going by the constitution of the ruling party, a high-ranking political officeholder of the party is assumed to be the leader of the party in the state. And it is now vividly clear that the distinguished Senator is now the leader of the party in the state, but due to his humility,  simple-minded nature and undiluted loyalty, he  ceded and refused to act or acknowledge such privilege by openly ceded that recognition to our highly achieving past governor of the state and current Nation Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

It’s noteworthy to consider this as a blessing and thing of pride to the entire people of the Northwest, Kano and the nation in general to have such a political glittering star on such a sensitive position who without an iota of doubt would once more prove to be an effective politician that would ensure a colossal abundance of a dividend of democracy to the entire region.

It’s indeed a pity and the need of sympathy towards his adversaries who are naturally jittery and wallowing in fear over the huge popularity, acceptance and booming profile of the man for he may decided to try his luck and fulfilled his long-term ambition. It would naturally and anticipatory walkover and easy win when the rampaging lion decide to surge into the jungle to grab his deserving seat.

Only time would tell…..

SENATOR JIBRIN MALIYA: WHO’S QUACKING IN THEIR BOOTS OVER A PROWLING KITTY ON A SPREE?

By Aminu Ahlan Shariff

When The Lion of the Senate Roars Against Bill to Round Up Fulani Herders Like Lost Cattle.

There is no gainsaying the fact that our country is indeed immensely blessed to have such unique and responsible leaders who can smell impending doom from and can boldly and courageously speed the process of curtailing it to serve the nation which would naturally be at the receiving end if it rear it’s head at the long run. Leaders who have the guts to call a spade a spade, utter and act the truth matter how it bitter it may taste no minding the repercussions and sentimental condemnations that may spring up from unscrupulous and unpatriotic element waiting to pounce at any given opportunity. But the country as whole needs and respect such extraordinarily leaders who are always willing to sacrifice everything for the betterment of citizen even at the detriment of their own personal comfort. And one of such commendable personalities is known other the current Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibril aka Maliya.

Unfortunately known for it’s shortcomings, shenanigans, intrigues, manipulators, deception, evil machination, unpredictable nature and many other vices, democracy still remains the only alternative and the only legitimate means of gaining power and authority to be in a vital position to determine the fate of electorate who entrusted their collective wealth and destiny at the disposal of those privileged to be occupying the throne of power. As such many people venture into the game with different mindset depending on their personal desire, wish and aspiration.

Some are simply there to grab an opportunity to siphon people’s collective wealth by embezzling and looting treasury with sole purpose of enriching themselves and their cronies at the detriment of the voting populace. They misused the golden opportunity to serve and get engrossed in indecent and misguided looting spree to amass ill-gotten wealth and accumulated properties and undeserved luxurious life style not minding the fact that people lined up and wasted their precious time to ensure they represented them with clear sense of purpose and enjoy dividend of democracy. But there also abound few and decent individuals who are into politics with sole purpose of getting an opportunity to serve the populace with inner zeal, determination and unquenchable hunger to better the life of the voting populace through efficient and effective display of honesty of purpose by bringing developmental projects and ensure delivery of dividend of democracy through creating legacy that would forever be remember with awe and admiration. They are guided by tireless spirit and selflessly worked for the betterment of their people. Count Senator Barau Jibril as one of such rare species.

Any society that dreams and crave for people oriented development which the practice of democracy offered and provided opportunity for, should always crave and yearn of such kind of genuine and honesty driven personalities to occupy the throne of leadership and power for the betterment of the electorate. As such, it indeed imperative that in some cases, individual who demonstrated such unique are finally occupying the throne. And I can unequivocally said here and now with fear of contradiction or challenge that Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Barau Maliya.

It was indeed shocking, absurd, shameful and utterly disgusting watching the scenario that unfolded at the Senate sitting this week, when to global shock and bewilderment of the viewing audience, one Senator from Benue State stand up with his confidence and swagger acting as individually or representing hidden dark forces, presented a motion for the assembly of distinguished Senators seeing an order and enforced law to stop Fulani herders from rearing with animals across the country but to be restricted to their place of abode. In his hallucinating and misplaced task, he urged the Senate to ensure that henceforth , Fulani herders should be ban from their yearly massive movement in search of watery and eatble grass which is normally found in an area with periodic abundance of rainfall.

Coming at this critical period when the nation is graffling and struggle with numerous social and economic palavers, when its trying to overcome all those menace of food insecurity, dwindling economy, massive decay in all sectors, abject poverty and above all the total insecurity with recurring lost of lives and properties especially in the northern part of the country, I was personally and justifiably terrified and shocked when the said Senator presented the unpopular motion. But was even more freightened thinking that the bill may have a backing of majority of the distinguished Senators and might have even been discussed and settled the matter prior to the commencement of the official sitting. To the  undescribable joy and satisfaction of the Nigerians, some genuine and patriotic Senators have also notice and recognized the catastrophic doom the said may subjected Nigeria to if allow to see the light of the days. Some eloquent and electively deserved Senators quickly raised up and condemned the bill due to it’s destructive consequences to the continue existing of the unified nation or even it’s entire existence. Many voices were heard which they all aired their opinion on the unpopular bill.

But it was amazing, tantalizing, delightful and spectacular watching the all powerful Senate President who majestically with aura of power and intellectualism stand up to speak against the motion. The intellectually endowed Senator teared the motion to pieces while the entire members were watching and listening with profound and necessitated attention. After all, it was the charismatic Deputy Senate President defending his opinions with facts and figures that can not be dispute. He warned the Senate about the serious implications of adopting such motion citing the current level of insecurity in the country as such adopting such motion would flare up the current manageable efforts of the government and set the country on fire. Delivering with confidence, eloquence and aura of convincing, the man justifiably opposition of the bill was received with resounding applause and brought an end to the further discussion of the monster bill.

Nigerian recieved the news of his rejection and the entire peace loving and patriotic citizens appreciated, commended, saluted and pour endless accolades on the popular Senator whose influence and popularity keeps gaining momentum across the entire country. And the observers and analysts joined the prey in commending the all powerful Deputy Senate President. For it is vividly clear that adopting such motion tantamount to curtailing the Fulani Herders their means of livehood and is going to be a receipt of unstoppable anarchy across the country.

It no longer and an un deniable fact that the rampant kidnapping and bandits activities especially in the northern part is orchestrated and superheaded by the Fulani despites the present of other tribes and foreign machineries in their midst. But we shall also not dispute the fact that their condemnable activities was first of all triggered years back by the activities of the farmers and cattles robbers whom they entangled together in a deadly fights and war that always resulted in lost of lives and thousands of cattle. The farmers always be it justifiably or sentimentally claimed that Fulani destroyed their planted crops with their rampaging cows as such subjected them to massive slaughter and unmeasurable lost cattles and sheeps. Such repeated actions which the authority always found it hard to resolve was the antidote that triggered the Fulani herders to involve in deadly acts of kidnapping and banditry. The perceived injustice they suffered in the hands of authority such as law enforcement offices and conniving local chiefs made it a necessity and regarded as survival method by some minority Fulani whom are few in number considering their large population of cattle reares who navigated the lengths and breed of the entire country year in year out. A practice that is in existence for centuries.

Imagine a scenario where such practice should abruptly stop without any provision of alternative and suitable replacement that would provide an avenue where teeming numbers of reares would feel at ease and feel a sense of belonging as Nigerians who are respected and protected as prescribed by the constitution of our great nation. But one need not be told what the adoption of the bill may led to. The rest of the majority peace loving would  with no iota joined their minority in the deadly business and in the process set the country on fire for they would be many to confront and defeat.

The entire global world that includes friendly nations, the authority, peace loving citizens, Fulani front lines association and the entire Nigerian are proudly and justifiably grateful to the unique and charming Senator whose timely intervention brought the monster bill to it’s final extinction and termination.

One can vividly see the genesis of the opposition discomfort and feeling if fear towards such a political rising star who qualities, experiences, track records and achievements needs not be mention for they are well known to all and sundry. Infact, his endless penchant for providing good governance with absolute commitment and undying zeal is simply out of this world. No wonder, his adversaries and opposition element are having sleepless night and ultimately scaring the living daylights out of them because his freightening, superb and emulating experience in Nigerian politics coupled with his daily raising profile across the length and breath of the country would not only be a herculean task but also impossible to overtake.

I stand to be corrected.
