The Kano State Commissioner   for Planning and Budget   Hon, Musa Sulaiman Shanono, has reiterated the State Government Commitment to partner with Non – Governmental   Organization towards improving the living Standard of the people in the state.

        Hon, Musa Sulaiman Shanono made the discloser while receiving official of Partnership to Engage , Reform and Learn( PERL) in his office who paid him a Courtesy visit in his office.

      The Commissioner who described , Budget as backbone of every Ministries ,Department and Agencies in the State further added that, planning and Budget can only be possible when all hands are put together to protect what has been entrusted to the people.

        The team leader of the PERL , Malam  Auwal Hamza ,said they were at the Ministry of planning and Budget to Congratulate the Commissioner on his recent appointment and discuss on the way forward and assured to provide all support to the present administration in it’s effort toward uplifting the leaving standing of the people in the State.

      On his part , the Director Planning of the Ministry Alh, Muntari Ado Yakasai , promised to do everything possible to cooperate with all Non Governmental organization in oder to achieved the set objectives and also thank the delegation from PERL for the visit.

Health Commissioner Visits HBPH, MMSH, MBSH

In continued effort and determination to strengthen the healthcare system of the state as His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf is yearning for, the Honourable commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf has yesterday visited Hasiya Bayero paediatric Hospital to inspect the ongoing renovation works for immediate use.

The Commissioner has also visited Murtala Muhammad General Hospital and Muhammad Buhari Specialist Hospital.

Dr. Labaran has inspected various sections within Hasiya Bayero facility and applauded the contractors for the good work, saying that, “We will do all our possible best to see this hospital is reopen before the next fourteen days.”

On the other hand, the commissioner inspected various sections and units of Murtala Muhammad General Hospital and was satisfied the way some staff are performing their primary responsibilities, further appreciating the level of cleanliness of the facility coupled with less challenges.

In another development, the commissioner inspected some vehicles (ambulances) that are available at Muhammad Buhari Specialist Hospital, he was accompanied by Ministry’s Directors.

KNSG to Collaborate with French on Water Sector Reform

Kano State Government has restated its commitment to partner with any agency willing to assist the state government in water sector.

In a statement signed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa Chief Press Secretary to Kano State Governor Engr,. Abba Kabir Yusuf disclosed this when he received the country director of French Development Agency (AFD) Mr Xavier Muron  who called on him at the Governor’s Lodge, Aminu Kano house Asokoro, Abuja.

The Governor said that the visit is timely as water is a critical sector that would be given the needed attention by his government and would do everything possible to ensure that all stakeholders in water resources are engaged in solving water problem in the state.

Areas that were thoroughly discussed include; the AFD and World bank co-founded project of Kano urban water sector reform ,  Rural and Access and Agricultural Market Project ( RAAMP)  that were all geared towards tackling Water shortage that has been disturbing Kano metropolis for long.

Earlier, the AFD’s country director, Mr Xavier Muron said he visited the Governor to congratulate him on his election and discuss areas of collobaration with Kano state government so as to work together in so many facets of human development.

KNSG To Re-Introduce Medical Out-Reach to Hard To Reach Communities

Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to re-improve the out reach program for the purpose of providing free medical services to hard to reach communities in the State.


The State Commissioner for Health Dr.Ibrahim Labaran Yusuf Disclosed this during a meeting with the management staff of the state Primary Health Care Management Board at the Board Headquarters an unscheduled visit to the Board Headquarters.


Dr. Labaran said, part of the visit was aimed at Accessing the level and condition of the Ambulances procure by the administration of Dr. Rabi’u Kwankwaso who launched the program eight years ago as well as discussion on the set back recorded on the performance of Routine Immunization (where Kano State is still recording 0 Dose).


The Health Commissioner therefore urged the Staff of the Board to redouble their efforts in the discharge of their Duties as the present administration is committed toward execution of meaningful program aimed at uplifting the Health sector.


Later, the Commissioner inspected the Ambulances and directed for the immediate over hauling and servicing of the vehicles as part of preparation for the commencement of the out reach program in the State as part of pledge made by the Executive Governor of Kano State Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf during his Inaugural Speech.

Former Permanent Secretary of Kano State Civil Service Mallam Muhammad Danyaro has expressed happiness with the unprecedented large gathering of who-is-who at the wedding of his daughter Aisha, who was married to Kabiru Abdullahi Imaran.

The wedding event was held today Saturday 8th July, 2023 at a Mosque adjacent to the family residence at Hausawa Qtrs. Tarauni Local Government area of Kano State.

Prominent personalities of the core including serving and retired Perm Secretaries, allies, siblings, relatives, Chief Executives of media outfits, journalists, friends and well wishers from various destinations too numerous to mention here were in attendance.

Notable among the dignitaries was Hon Baba Halilu Dantiye Kano State Commissioner of lnformation, former members of the State Executive Council and former Heads of Services of both Kano and Jigawa State as well as senior government functionaries serving and retired in federal and state services.

A highly respected and at many times Media Aide to the past Military Governors of Kano State, veteran Mallam Muhammad Danyaro whose daughter’s hand was given in marriage was sealed in a spectacular event by the chief lmam of the Mosque upon payment of N50,000:00k cash as dowry.

At this point and on behalf of friends and colleagues, particularly in the journalism profession, we once again joined all the well wishers in congratulating our mentor and his entire family on this significant occasion.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano state chapter, has congratulated Baba Halilu Dantiye over his appointment as the new Kano State Commissioner of information.

In a Statement Signed by the Director Special Duties Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs Malam Sani Abba Yola Stated that, The congratulatory letter conveyed to the Commissioner was jointly signed by the council chairman and secretary, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim and Comrade Abba Murtala respectively.

According to the statement, the appointment of Dantiye was well deserved in view of his impressive pedigree as a former Editor with Triumph Newspaper, a two-term President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), a former Director General Media, a retired Permanent Secretary, and a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (mni).

The NUJ expressed. the hope that the new Commissioner would carry along all working journalists in the state in the discharge of all important tasks ahead.

“As a professional colleagues, we pledge to give you all necessary support, and cooperation and show understanding to enable you succeed in the attainment of the noble objective, ” the statement added.

In a similar development, the management of Blueprint Newspaper, in a letter signed by its Executive Director, Salisu Umar: the Management of Nasara Radio, through its acting General Manager, Muhammad Inuwa Jika and the Management staff of Aminchi Radio through its Head of Administration Labaran Salisu Kanya conveyed their congratulatory messages to the new commissioner.

They assured him of their full support to achieve the set objectives and prayed to Allah to give him wisdom, sound health and protection to discharge the assigned duty effectively and efficiently.

FUD Matriculates 4493 Students

Federal University Dutse in JIgawa state on Thursday matriculated 4493 students from both Join Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and Direct Entry (DE) for 2021/2022 season.

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the vice chancellor of the university, professor Abdulkareem Saboda Muhammad, said the number of admitted students represented 19 percent of applicants that sought administration in the institution.

Professor Muhammad explained that, “The 2021/2022 combine admission is particularly challenging because of the large number of applicants received with only a limited quota to admit.”

According to the Vice chancellor, “Federal University Dutse received a total of 23,951 applications for admission into various programs with only allowable admission quota of 4493 (19 percent) of the total applicants”.

He said, “One program that is popular with applicants is MBBS with 3893 applicants for a quota of only 100 allowed by MDCN to be admitted. I must say that admission to Federal University has become very competitive over the years owning to our level of development and the popularity of our programs most of which are professional in nature”.

Professors Muhammad noted that in the session 2022/2023, a total number of 4810 candidates were given admission, out of which 3933 students registered out of the quota of 4493.

“It is always a moment of joy not only for new students but also for parents and guardians, after a keen struggle to secure admission into program of choice in the University especially at this period of combined admission which is highly competitive.
“I want to congratulate our matriculating students for being among the lucky applicants who gained admission into this university, which is currently one of the most preferred universities in this region. “

The VC addressed the new students saying, “You would have noticed by now that you have joined a very young promising and stable University and therefore expected to act in a manner that is consistent with the peace and stability you met in the University.
“You must adhere strictly to the matriculation Oath you are about to take. You must restrain yourselves from such vices like examination misconduct/malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, fighting, stealing etc”.

“As a young university, we have our set of rules and regulations that we guard jealously. You must also observe the dress code rules and avoid unnecessary travels.
“We provided basic facilities in your halls of residence for your comfort and relaxation and the Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs is always available to guide and support you to make your stay in the University comnfortable, “Professor Abdulkareem emphasizes.

He directed them to always go to the staff advisers whom they can feel free to consult and a vibrant Student Union Government that they can channel their problems to if any for possible solution.
“Any student who breaches the set rules and regulations would face appropriate disciplinary measures.”

KNSG, ICAN To Collaborate on Capacity Building of Personnel

Kano State Office of the Accountant General would collaborate with Institute of Chertared Account, (ICAN) for the Building Capacity of the Staff in the Department.

In a Statement Signed by Malam Bashir Yahya, Director Public Enlightment Ministry of Finance disclosed that, The State Accountant General, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam stated this to the Executive Members of Kano branch of the Institute who paid him a courtesy visit.

He maintained that over eight years ago there was no serious training to the staff of the office of the accountant general particularly accountants and Internal auditors in order to boost their capacity and efficiency.

Alhaji Abdulkadir assured the Institute officials that his office is ready to partner with the ICAN to commence a quarterly staff training and workshop to strengthen the capacity of the workforce for maximum outputs .

He register his appreciation to the Institute officials for the visit noted that ICAN being his constituency will work with the motto of the association, ‘Integrity and Accuracy’.

Earlier, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk ,an elder in the State Institute’s branch stated that they are in Accountant General’s office to congratulate him for his recent appointment by Executive Governor, Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Dr. Abubakar also described the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam as a right choice and a landmark to the Institute being the first Chartered Accountant ,Accountant General in the state.

He offered prayers to Almighty Allah on behalf of the ICAN to continue to guide, protect and give a wisdom to new Accountant General to achieves success in all endeavours.

KNSG To Revive LG Administration

Kano State government has pledged to revive the decaying infrastructure and lost glory of the local government council in the State.

The Deputy Governor, and Commissioner Ministry For Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, made the pledge on Tuesday during a meeting with the 44 local government council Chairmen in his office.

In Statement Signed by the Information officer Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Aminu Bello Sani further stated that, Comrade Gwarzo said being the closest authority to the people, the local government deserve to be given priority attention as it positively touches the lives of rural people.

The Commissioner urged the local government Chairmen to be up and doing to provide relief and basic services despite all the burden to reduce the burden of high cost of living among their teeming populace.

Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo directed the council to take care of mentally derailed moving around naked in their respective local government areas.

Earlier, the permanent secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Yusuf Datti Hussain commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusif for appointing well experienced and seasoned local government administrator to manage the ministry.

Also, speaking the ALGON Chairman Alhaji Baffa Muhammad Takai promised to work diligently to meet the yearning and aspiration of incumbent administration.
