KNSG TO PROVIDE INTERVENTION TO TCN FOR INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT

Kano State Government remained resolute in harnessing all avenues that will boost Electricity are supply for industrial development.


This was the submission of the Commissioner for Information Baba Halilu Dantiye when he hosted the AGM of Transmission Company of Nigeria, Kano regione in his office.

The Commissioner said Governor Abba Kabir was ready to provide intervention to the TCN towards completing its various projects in the state.


He noted that no responsible government will ignore opportunity to enhance electricity supply to its people, inview of its strategic importance in boosting economic activities in the state.


Dantiye then assured the AGM of the ministry”s support in enlightening the general public on its activities.


Earlier in his speech, the AGM Kano regional office Muhammad Kamal Bello said they were in the Ministry to solicit for the support of Kano State Government in executing its projects.


He revealed that Kano State despite its population and economic status in the country has only two transmission lines while other states were having eight adding that,there were various transmission and sub stations projects that were under execution for over eight years.


Some of the impediment of the projects according to him include encrochment of transmission.

Jigawa Senator Donates #10 M to Fund Education

The Senator Representing Jigawa North West Senatorial Zone
Distinguished Babangida Hussani (Walin Kazaure) has donated the sum of ₦10 million to assist students from his
constituency who were studying sciences like Medicine, Law,
Engineering among others in Universities and other tertiary Institutions of learning .


The Senator made the disclosure while responding to question from newsmen at
Federal poly Kazaure during the 40 years Anniversary of Government
Secondary School Kazaure his Alma Mata saying that the gesture was
from retirement benefits which he promised during his campaign.


He said that he made a solemn pledge that he will do every thing
possible to support Education and Students pursuing sciences causes
from his senatorial zone while he was campaigning for the seat of the
senatorship that was he found it necessary to full fill that
promise pointing out that the money is part of his gratuity earmarked
to support education in his senatorial zone.


On the development of his former Secondary School , Babangida
Hussaini said it was the reason they organized the 40 years
anniversary to celebrate their class of 83 where thy come together ,
socialize, see each other felicitate pray for the souls of departed
colleagues and discuss on what to do to develop the school .



.He stated that very soon meeting of the National body of the
association will be organized where all old students will come up to
determine what to do to rebuild the school and make it boarding
institutions like before

During the occasion, the senator distributed souvenirs girt to their
old principals teachers and workers of then school, adding that
such kind of meetings enhances cooperation, cement relationships.

Justice Dije Sworn- In as Pioneer Female Chief Judge of Kano State

Kano State Governor, Alh Abba Kabir Yusuf has today superintendent the swearing-in of Justice Dije Abdu Aboki as the substantive first female Chief Judge of Kano state In conformity with the provision of section 271 of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria on recommendation of the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) and confirmation by the state House of Assembly at an occasion that was held at Africa house, government house.

Speaking after the oath taking, Governor Abba Kabir informed the gathering that the new chief Judge was appointed based proven track record in ensuring the dispensing of justice saying, ” you have distinguished yourself throughout your career as a professional judicial officer that is committed to ensuring justice and fairness”

In a Statement Signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kano State Governor Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf Stated that The Governor reminded the new Chief Judge on the task a head, ” let me remind you that your new position has placed a huge burden of responsibilities on your shoulders and these responsibilities are amana (trust/pact)between you and good people of Kano state, and most importantly, between you and Allahu Subhanahu Watala”

Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf urged her to in keeping the trust and commence the process of reforming the state Judiciary for the citizens to look into issues like perceived miscarriages of justice, perceived unjust and misjudged cases, alleged judicial corruption, and cases allegedly manipulated by money, power, and personal favours among others.

He assured the comittement of his administration to meet its obligations to the Judiciary and will complete all abondoned projects including new court complexes, recouping of courts building that were hitherto sold and demolished and prioritizing the welfare of judicial officers.

On the need for continuous smooth working relationship between the arms of government, the Governor added ” the three arms of government constitute the government and the complimentary relationship is what would engender rapid and sustainable development in our state and the judiciary have a vital role to play in our state’s journey to enduring peace, economic prosperity and sustainable development”.

In her speech, the new Chief Judge, Hon. Justice (Mrs) Dije Abdu Aboki appreciated the state Governor for proposing her and recommended by NJC and final affirmation by Kano state house of Assembly pledging to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in her.

Justice Dije attributed the cordial relationship existing between the arms of government in to the quality leadership of the state governor and expressed optimism that the relationship will continue to wax more stronger.

Those who delivered goodwill messages at the event include; Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), Justice Amina Wambai from International Federation of Female Judges,Grand Khadi of Kano, Tijjani Yusuf Yakasai, Justice Abdu Aboki (a spouse of the new chief Judge), former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Abubakar Balarabe Mahmd (SAN), representative of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alh Mustapha Garba Mustapha, the Dan Darman of Sokoto.

Others are; the representatives of the emirs of Kano, Bichi, Karaye, Rano and Gaya, Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta, Alh Bello Abubakar Tuta and Justice M.L. Garba from the Supreme court.

Makoda LG To Accord Priority Attention To Health Sector

Makoda Local Government has reaffirmed its commitment to accord
maximum priority attention to the Health Sector.

This was disclosed by Makoda Local Government Council Chairman Mamuda Abdullahi Makoda during flag-up campaign of fIPV + nOPV (Fractional inactivated Polio Vaccine and Novel Oral Polio Vaccine) immunisation held today at Makoda Local Government District Head Palace.

The Chairman further disclosed that apart from giving all the necessary support in both routine and other immunisation exercise he among others build 18 bed hospital in Barebari village, provision of free drugs to hospitals and renovation of healthposts across the 11 wards of the LGA.

Hon. Mamuda commended the effort of the Executive Governor of Kano State Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for making the exercise possible and pledged to continue supporting health sector at all time.

In his remarks, the District Head of Makoda (Barayan Bichi) Alhaji Labaran Abdullahi promised to mobilise people at his domain to give maximum support and cooperation throughout the exercise.

In his remark the Makoda Local Government Primary Health Care Co-ordinator Mallam Ahmad Dahiru disclosed the readiness of his staff to discharge the exercise with utmost care.

Also commenting during the occasion, the NPI manager Yawale S. Alkassim disclosed that a total of 77,245 eligible children were to be vaccinated at the 6 days duration of the exercise.

D/Kudu LG To Partner With Philanthropists To Provide Health Care Facilities

Dawakin kudu Local Government Council has pledged its commitment to work in partnership with philanthropist towards the provision of Health Care facilities in every nook and corners of the area.

The Council Chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Matage made the pledge to today at the flag off of Polio Immunazation held at Gano town in Dawakin kudu Local government area.

Alhaji Nasiru Ibrahim Matage who was represented by the Secretary to the Government Council Alhaji Abba Mohd Inuwa commended a Philanthropists in the area Alhaji Murtala Garba Tafida for donating solar energy system to Gano Comprehensive Hospital worth three Million Naira and the Construction of Doctor’s resident at Gano town to ensure smooth health care service at the centre.

The Council Chairman therefore urged other patriotic indigenes of Dawakin kudu area to emulate the gesture.

In his remark, a member Kano State House of Assembly representing Dawakin kudu Hon. Shuaibu Rabiu Na Goggo Gano described Polio Immunazation as means of ensuring effective prevention against childhood killer diseases.

Earlier, The Primary Health Care Co- ordinator in the area, Alhaji Haruna Yusif Labbo Said adequate vaccines had been provided by the state government and a total of 72,880 are expected to be immunized during the exercise in the area.

The local Local Immunazation Manager, Hajiya Zulai Gilima called on them to ensure their wives always visit hospital for routine immunazation for healthy growth of their children.

On his part the District head of Dawakin kudu Turakin Gaya, Alhaji Jafaru Usman Mohd represented by village head of Gano Alhaji Abdullahi Musa stressed the need for parents to ensure their children below five years were immunized.

Also speaking, The supervisory council health in the area Alhaji Idris Shehu enjoined people in the area to report any out break of the diesesse to the authorities concerned for prompt action.

KNSG REMAINS COMMITTED TOWARD COMPLETING ABANDONED HOSPITALS – DR. LABARAN

Kano State Government under Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf remains affirmed to complete the abandoned hospitals in the state.

This was revealed by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf yesterday during the supervision to Tofa comprehensive Hospital built by Engr. Abdulkadir Jobe, Member representing Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado/Tofa at the Federal House of Representatives and Kafin Maiyaki cottage hospital in kiru local government.

In a Statement Signed by Aminu Sani Ali An Assistant Information officer Ministry of Health explained that Dr. Labaran stated that Tofa comprehensive hospital is 100 beds capacity that engulfed billions of Naira and equipped with all the needed equipments.

“I Will write the report to His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf to explain to him the remaining equipments required at the hospital. After completion, I want the Governor to commission these hospitals by himself,” Dr. Labaran reaffirmed.

He enjoined the people of Tofa local government to continue protecting the equipment at facility, supporting Engr. Jobe and avoid anything that may cause friction between them and NNPP leaders.

He further urged them to bring their children to the immunization centres, calling on them to accord the ongoing fIPV+nOPV campaign in the state with all seriousness by making sure their deserving children are fully immunized as diphtheria is still in the state, pointing out that the routine immunization is one of the vaccine against diphtheria.

Dr. Labaran and his team inspected all the equipments at Kafin Maiyaki cottage hospital in kiru local government.

“This hospital was initiated during the second tenure of the administration of His Excellency Engr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso. When we left, the hospital was abandoned and became dilapidated.We see a lot of damages and cracks on the wall with ceiling felled down.

“I wilI write the report to the Governor and his council about my assessment on the hospital. We have to rehabilitate the structure of the facility.” He added.

The Commissioner advised the people of the local government areas to establish hospital friends committees for the hospitals.

During the visit, Dr. Labaran was accompanied by all the heads of the agencies including DG PHCMB, DG DMCSA, DG SACA, DG KNCDC, ES HMB, ES PHIMA, ES KACHMA, and ES KEHTFUND.

On their separate remarks, Turakin Tofa Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Tofa and the former speaker Kano state House of Assembly, Hon. Gambo sallau of Kiru local government, expressed their appreciation for the visit and thanked the Governor for prioritising healthcare development in the state

KANO STATE GOVERNMENT TO REVIEW CENSORSHIPBOARD LAW

In a bid to reduce social vices in the society, Kano State Government says it will review Kano State Censorship Board Law to regulate the activities of social media handles in the state.

This was made known by Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi when he received the Executive Secretary of Kano State Censorship Board on Friday in his office.

The Attorney General lamented on how our society’s norms and values are being tempered with in some films and social media handles that cause the falling down of people’s standard of behaviour and diminishing the good cultural heritage of our fore fathers

Haruna Isa Dederi added that the major responsibility of Kano State Censorship Board is to ensure that films and other literary productions are produced according to our religion, culture and established law.

He then assured of the ministry’s full support and cooperation toward the review and amendment of the Kano State Censorship Board Law 2019 amendment.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary of Kano State Censorship Board, Alhaji Abba Almustapha said the visit is to seek the support and cooperation of the Attorney General towards reviewing the board’s 2019 amendment law.

He said misusing social media handles is becoming rampant in the society hence the need for including them in the law like WhatsApp, Instagram , Twitter and Tik tok and also Islamic singers in order to regulate the use of inciting words in their songs and other literary works.

Abba Almustapha added that printers, TV games centers and Photo laboratories should also be included in the propose amendment of the law, making it necessary for him to solicit the support of the Attorney General in that direction.

KSPHCMB To Partner With TB Partners in Fighting Tuberculosis.

Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board  has assured partners fighting tuberculosis in the state all the support needed in their fight against Tuberculosis.

The Director General Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board Dr Nasir Mahmud give the assurance when he received the TB Partners that called on him in his office.

The Director General said that one of the cardinal principles of the Present is to revive the healthcare system of the state decayed  for effective service delivery, stressing that actions of His Excellency has proven his determination and political will to deliver his promises unto the health sector.

Dr. Nasir Commended  the TP Partners in interrupting the transmission of the contagious disease in the state which make it to be  the leading state in TB case finding in the Country.

The Director General further commended them for  their efforts in curtailing the disease in the State and assured them all the support needed so as to achieve the set goals.

Earlier speaking, the Programme Manager Leprosy and TB of the State Ministry of Health leading TB Partners, Dr. Ibrahim Aliyu Gano, said that they were at the Director General office to felicitate with him for his appointment and to explain to him about the efforts TB Partners have being put in place in fighting TB in the state.

He informed the Commissioner that TB Partners are doing excellently in terms of demand creation services in the facilities, awareness creation and media engagements, adding that as a result of the various interventions of partners Kano state has recorded a lot of achievements in the fight against TB  

Dr. Gano stated that Kano is now the leading state in the country in terms of TB case finding so much that just recently Kano broke another record by been the only state in Nigeria that reached the mark of 8,000plus TB cases finding.

Kano State: PHCC Urged To Provide Proper Coordination For The Conduct of Phase 2 Polio Vaccination Exercise

The Primary Health Care Coordinators in the 44 Local Government areas of Kano State have been urged to provide proper coordination for the successful conduct of polio vaccination exercise.


The call was made by the Director General of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board Dr. Nasir Mahmud during an engagement meeting with the phase 2 implementing Local Governments Areas PHCC held at the Board Headquarters.


Dr. Nasir, who highlighted on the phase 1 conduct of the vaccination exercise, showed his dismay on some local governments for their non commitment as well as lack of proper coordination during the conduct of the exercise and urged the head of department to ensure proper coordination and commitment for the successful conduct of the exercise at their various local government areas.


He strongly warned that any local government found wanting during the second phase of the exercise will severely be dealt with.


In his remarks, the state Immunization officer Dr. Shehu Abdullahi highlighted on the challenges faced during the first round of the exercise which, according to him, include poor advocacy to key stakeholders that include traditional, religious and political leaders at the local government level, poor coordination, irregularities in team selection, poor supervision at the local Government level, poor data management, missing tracking devices and team turning off devices.


Other challenges include, stock out of routine immunization at the vaccinations post leading to missed opportunities, sub optimal commitment in the local government evening review meeting as well as approach to settling non-compliance and accountability of campaign pluses.


Dr. Shehu then directed the head of departments to ensure compliance and commitment for the successful conduct of the second round of the vaccination exercise scheduled to be conducted at the 23 local government areas in the state.
