The Emir of Kano Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has expressed the Appointment of Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector General of Police as well deserved, considering his experiences he obtained from various career of police professionalism , this would give him the confidence to achieve the success in the discharge of his responsibilities for moving the country forward.


Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero stated this when the Acting Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, paid him a courtesy visited at his palace.


The Emir said police play a vital role in protection of lives and properties of the teeming populace and charged him on the need to fear almighty Allah in the discharged of his assignment and assured full support of the emirate council.


The Emir Commended the Kano State Commissioner of police for his gigantic work rendering to the state for in ensuring the protection of lives and properties as well as maintaining peace in the State.


Earlier the Acting Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, assured his command resolved to work positively to move the country forward.


Kayode reiterated his resolve in ensuring protection of lives and properties of the people of Kano State and Country at large.


He also told the Emir that he was in the state to attend the passing out of Police Academic and solicited the Emir’s support and cooperation.

UNICEF To Partner with KNSG On Social Policy Programs

The Commissioner Ministry of Planning and Budget, Hon. Musa Sulaiman Shanono has promised to do everything possible to work in partner with UNICEF in order to move the State forward.


Hon. Musa Shanono, Stated this today when he received a delegation from Unicef who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.


Hon. Shanono, promised to joint hand together with Ministry of Health to work closely with Unicef in order to achieved the set objective.


Speaking Earlier, the UNICEF chief of Kano field office, Mr, Rahama Rihood Muhd Farah, said they were at Ministry of Planning and Budget to Congratulate the Commissioner on his appointment.


Mr. Rahama Rihood, added that Unicef are on needed to renew commitment to work with Ministry of Planning and Budget especially on social policy programme.


On his part, The Director Planning of the Ministry Alhaji Muntari Ado Yakasai, called on management staff to give their maximum Cooperation in order to achieved the desire goal.


Alhaji Muntari Ado Yakasai, thanked the UNICEF for the visit which he described as timely and assured all the necessary support in order to achieve the set objectives.




Kano Justice Commissioner Tasked Staff on Dedication To Duty

Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi has charged the staff of the ministry to be punctual and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.


The Attorney General made the plea on Thursday in a meeting held with the administrative staff of the ministry at the ministry’s conference room.


He said that staff welfare is one of the present administration’s priorities adding that provision of working materials, staff training and retraining and the general renovation of the ministry are underway for them to have conducive working environment.


He then called on them to desist from late coming, leaving office before closing time as well as absenteeism saying that any staff found wanting will be punished accordingly.


While soliciting their support and cooperation,the commissioner said his door will always be opened for their good advises, suggestions and constructive criticisms that will help in running the ministry successfully.


Speaking on behalf of the staff,the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya Amina Yusuf ‘Yargaya assured the Attorney General of the staff full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the responsibilities shouldered on him by the governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Censorship Board Seek Kano Police Command Support

The Executive Secretary Kano State Censorship Board, Alh. El-Mustapha has solicited the support and cooperation of the Kano State Police Command for it’s successful conduct of the activities of the board in the state.



The Executive Secretary expressed the need during a consultation and familiarity visit to the AIG in his office at Zone One Police Headquarter Kano state.



The ES explained that, the essence of the visit was to introduced himself as the Newly Executive Secretary of Kano State Censorship Board to the AIG and at the same time to use the opportunity to re-strengthen the good working relationship that exist between the Board and the police over the years.



Earlier in his remarks, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Alh. Umar Mamman Sanda thanked the Executive Secretary to the Censorship Board Alhaji Abba El-Mustapha for considering him worthy for the visit.

AIG adviced El-Mustapha to ban any film’s that will not promote the Islamic teaching, Norms and value and the good culture of Hausa people.

AIG further expressed concerned on the way and manner that some Kannywood film’s portrayed and misrepresented the Hausa culture and Islamic teaching particularly how some Film’s wrongly described the polygamy marriage and the issues associating marriage and family conflict in such a way that is inconsistent with Islamic teaching, adding that, the ES should used his time to sanitize all these saddened negative impressions by some few Kannywood film’s Practisioners in the industry.

AIG promised to gives all the necessarily support and cooperation to the board and his door will remain opens for any issues that will lead to the peace, Unity and welfare of people.

In a vote of thanks, El-Mustapha thanked the AIG for giving the chance to visit him and promised to work closely with all the advices gives to the Board by the AIG

Deforestation: KNSG Apprehends Six at Falgore Forest, Confiscates Chainsaws, Bikes

Warns against indiscriminate tree fellings

Kano state government have decried the alarming rate of deforestation and issued a strong warning to defaulters to desist from indiscriminate felling of trees at Falgore Game Reserve.

The warning was issued by Hon. Sadiq Kura Mohammed, the Managing Director, Kano Zoological and Wildlife Management Agency while briefing newsmen at his office.

The MD said that he visited the game reserve on Wednesday together with members of the management of KAZOWMA. While touring the forest they caught six illegal loggers red-handed and confiscated 10 motorcycles, two chainsaws and many axes used by the suspects.

Kano State government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is taking all the necessary actions to checkmate further enchroment at Falgore Game Reserve, reiterating that the state government will do everything possible to put a stop to the menace.

In this regard, the state government is working round the clock to put appropriate measures in place to safeguard the forest, warning that if felling of trees continue, the forest reserve will be no more. As a source of River Kano, if the forest was completely destroyed, Tiga dam will dry up, meaning that irrigation farming will become history in that part of the state, he warned.

Hon. Kura Mohammed also said, as the MD, his top priorities are improving the welfare of rangers, safeguarding the game reserve and its organisms, namely plants and animals.

“At this juncture, I want to use this opportunity to warned those who are in the habit of indiscriminately cutting down the trees for whatever reason and those who are settling down with their families in the forest to desist from that, otherwise the government will not spare anyone found wanting.

“I was appointed as the Managing Director of KAZOWMA by His Excellency, Kano State Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf to help him serve the good people of the state. Safeguarding Falgore Game Reserve, as the only remaining forest in the state, is one of my priorities. The game reserve is of utmost important to me,” he reiterated.

Speaking on the Zoo, the MD lamented how some of the visitors are of the habit of indiscriminately discarding waste, especially polythene, such as sachet water nylon and plastic bottles at the premises of the Zoo, advising them to desist because if the polythene nylon flew into the animals’ cages, they might swallow it which in turn may lead to their death.

KAZOWMA, KASUBA Collaborate to Upgrade Kano Zoo

To keep up with global trending of tourism, Kano State Zoological and Wildlife Management Agency, KAZOWMA, would partner with Kano Urban Beautification Agency (KASUBA) to modernize Kano Zoological Garden.

This was made known when the Managing Director of KAZOWMA, Hon. Sadiq Kura Mohammed paid a courtesy visit to KASUBA.

The MD said they were at the Agency to solicit for partnership with KASUBA to landscape and beautify the Zoo.

Hon. Sadiq Kura Mohammed his mission as the new MD is to restore the lost glory of the Zoo as when it was founded iby former military governor Late Audu Bako in 1971.

“We came to this Agency (KASUBA) because we are stretched in terms the infrastructures. Most of the structures at the Zoo were dated back to our grandfather of blessed memory, late Audu Bako who founded the Zoo.

“The facility is stretched beyond capacity. So, we rushed to this sister agency for assistance in terms of landscaping as we need to beautify the place.

“The last time we received a massive infrastructural investment was eight (8) years ago during the administration of former Governor, His Excellency Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Apart from that, the Zoo did not receive any massive infrastructures,” he revealed.

He further added that apart from the Zoo which provides avenue for research and conservation, there is also a botanical garden that provides serenity and recreation.

Responding, the Director General of KASUBA, Arc. Yusuf Danjuma Zarewa assured the MD that KASUBA will work hand-in-hand with KAZOWMA to modernize the Zoo.

Apart from landscaping requested, the DG pledged to provide sign post to guide visitors to different parts of the Zoo.

Arc. Zarewa described Zoo as the only place in Kano metropolis where people go and have a direct contact with the gradually diminishing nature.

He commended Hon. Sadiq Kura Mohammed for the visit which he said will strengthen the synergy between the two agencies.

KNSG SYMPATHIZED WITH FIRE DISASTER VICTIMS

Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has resymphasized with the victims of March 2023 Singer/Kurmi markets fire disaster.

Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf made the sympathy during the distribution of relief materials to the affected marketers held at state government store Maganda road, Kano.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for special duties Haj. Amina Sani Abdullahi said that, the relief items given to affected fire victims is not meant to compensate them rather to give them succour in their sufferings.

He described the disaster incident as act of Allah and also inevitable and it would be rewarded by Him only.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf stated that, they have made several pladges during their 44 local governments campaign tour including how to avert rampant markets fire incidences in the state, saying that state government will constitute a committee of professionals and other stakeholders in disaster management in a view to come out with the proactive measures for averting such incidence.

Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf commended the federal government for the support and special intervention given to Kano people by the Director General whenever there is urgent needs. He urges for more support considering the state population and number of it’s local governments.

In his remark, the Director General National Emergency Management Agency Alh. Mustapha Habib Ahmad represented by the Territorial Coordinator Kano and Jigawa states Dr. Nura Abdullahi said that, sequel to the fire incidence in March 2023, NEMA Kano joints hands with SEMA Kano to ascertain the number of damages incurred in the disaster incident.

Dr. Nura Abdullahi also commended the state government support given to SEMA in ensuring effective and efficient disaster management activities in the state.

Dr. Nura Abdullahi stated that, the relief items would be given to 523 affected fire victims and the relief intervention is not meant for compensation rather a demonstration of great concern by the federal government to people of Kano state.

In his welcome remark, the Executive Secretary SEMA Alh. Isyaku Abdullahi Kubarachi commended NEMA for the intervention to support Kano fire victims adding that the present administration had appreciates with the gesture.

In their separate remarks, the chairmen of Singer/Kurmi market associations Alh. Dauda Usman Majema and Alh. Muhammad Musa thanks the Federal and state governments for the concern and assured the use of the items judiciously.

Items distributed are Rice, Maize, Beans, Vegetable oils, Seasoning cubes, Wrappers, Brocades, Mats etc.

APC Chairmanship: How Capable is Dr. Ganduje in Healing The Wound?

As everyone knows, the nomination of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to the top leadership of the All-progressive Congress (APC) is not coming by surprise because he is one of the party’s sons who dedicated himself to the development of the APC.

A seasoned administrator and political leader who torches many other lives positively during his eight years as the Governor of Kano state been one of the most populous states if not first in Nigeria.

His choice by the party top leadership was based on competency, wealth of experience and leadership ability that he exhibited all these qualities for decades, for him to return the party to the founding vision.

He was picked following the recent resignation of a party’s Chairman, who is the former Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Dr. Ganduje became the Chairman in the party’s 12 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

The NEC is the 2nd highest decision-making organ of the party and its membership consist of the President, Governors who are members of the party, National Working Committee (NWC) members and State Chairmen of the party, among others.

Dr. Ganduje is a true bureaucrat whose contribution was written in gold both at the centre and the peri-peri.

This personality is the one who will do justice to the journey of a ruling party like APC, the party that is second to none-especially in the democratic history of Nigeria.

His closeness to the serving head of state, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not happen just the way many can witness it now, but as a result of his diligence and sacrifice, who helped the journey from its inception when many were seen as a taboo.

Illegality of him becoming the Chairman of the party is not worth talking about, considering his input in the state affairs.

In terms of human development and state building, his contribution will not be forgotten in Kano, and some other places he worked before.

Ganduje’s wisdom and foresight will give him the chance to win many hearts, that is to say to draw the attention of many people that are in the party to come and give their own quota toward the development of this country that is running its leadership through voting by the majority.

In addition, his leadership style and procedures will also allow him to settle existing disputes within the party stakeholders thereby paving the way for the most united party in Nigeria ever.

To match words with action, and from my own Sir, I can say that there is need for you to re-invest hugely in the youth that are actively in the political circle and those aspiring to be in some positions across all corners of this country, because they will help the system and allow the party to achieve the aims and objectives of its creation.

“This will actually help in promoting internal democracy, defend and increase the number of executives and legislative seats the party currently holds in the state of the country under your watch.

“Also, there is an urgent need to unite your members to achieve support for the current administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to deliver and execute all the campaign promises”.

This is one of the ways that will sustain your good legacy and impact positively on the lives of the masses.

To the party stakeholders and members, having somebody like Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is a golden opportunity to the party that you are not supposed to let him retire in the near future.

You must devise a means of utilizing his leadership ability, wisdom and wealth of experience to arrive at the promised land.

“This to say, you must not allow him to leave, but to re-elect him for another tenure”.

Dr. Ganduje happens to be the 6th National Chairman of the ruling APC, after Chief Bisi Akande (2013 – 2014), Chief John Odigie Oyegun (2014 – 2018), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (2018 – 2020), then Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni (2020 – 2022) and Abdullahi Adamu (2022 – 2023).

CS—SUNN Advocates For Establishment of Nutrition Departments In Kano Line MDAs

The Civil Society Organization Known as Civil Society SC-SUNN (Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria) National Headquarters in ABUJA has advocated that line Ministries, Departments and Government Agencies (MDAs) in Kano State to Established Nutrition Departments of Units in their respective office so as to have healthy family and Nursing Mothers in the state.


The Co-Chairman of the Organization Mrs AJi Robinson who led the team from the National Secretariat of the Organization on an advocacy visit to Kano State made the request when they pay for an advocacy visit to the Ministries of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Ministry of Women Affairs, Health, Ministry of Education as well as State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).


She said establishing of such Departments will go along way in creating job opportunities for young graduate who specialized in food and Nutrition and ensure the production of healthy families especially young children as well as those yet unborn.


Mrs Robinson also has called on the State Government to made adequate budgetary allocation for the new departments or unit in their annual budget for their smooth take up with technical personal that can man them and also implored the MDAs to extend maternity leave for pregnant workers and their husbands should be allowed to leave for two weeks to assist the mothers to breastfeed their babies very well.
According to the Co-Chair of the organization, the Federal Government during the National Council of food and Nutrition under the Chairmanship of Vice President which her organization is a member the former president Muhammad Buhari has signed and approved for states line MDAs to establish departments or units of nutrition for the country to have a decent and healthy families.


She said many states have started implementation the directive citing an example of Nasarawa and others stressing that going by the numeral strength of Kano in terms of high population, said it was very paramount to join the league immediately.


She expressed confidence that Kano will take the lead when considering the fact that her malnutrition rate was about 46 percent higher that of the National.


The State Coordinator of the Organization at the Ministry of Budget and Planning Malam Muktar Sadiq, and the State Chairperson Hajiya Ali Musa and Secretary of the State Secretary of the organization Malam Ahmed Tijjani all spoke at length as well extolled the virtue of establishing of the nutrition Departments or Units in the MDAs.


In their Responses the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries and Directors on behalf of their Ministries Alhaji Salisu Dan’azumi Tahir from Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources said he appreciated what they brought adding that his ministry will seek approval from the office of the Head of Service for the establishment of the department saying that they already have a unit that takes care of production of fruits and Irish potatoes, while from Women Affairs Hajiya Hadiza Rabi Shitu Director Child Development said they encourage home and school gardening supported the idea.


Earlier in her welcome address the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Hajiya Amina Musa assured the delegations that her Ministry is looking forward to establish the department adding that they had already have a Unit of Nutrition.
In His Assertion Director Monitoring and Evaluation Kano State Agriculture Development Authority ( KANARDA) Malam Aminu Ibrahim said they have trained 5,628 Women on how to Produce Soya Beans and Groundnut and how to sale the Products within and outside the country.


At the State Emergengy Management Agency, the delegation were received by the Executive Secretary of the Agency Alhaji Isyaku Abduallahi, while at Ministry of Water Resources the Director Research, Planning and Statistics Abdullahi Abubakar Isah received the delegation all promised to facilitate the establishment of the department.
Similarly the delegation visited Ministry of Education and we’re briefed by Malam Naziru Surajo a Deputy Director Schools under the Ministry and informed the delegation that, they need to see the structure and strategy before they adopt the idea of establishing the department stressing that the Ministry have already established a Unit that is taking care with issue of Nutrition.
